Genesis 11:Intro Babel built -- Language confounded -- Generations of Shem -- Abram born; married, and goes into Canaan.
Genesis 11:15 And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor and Haran.
Genesis 11:16 Now these were the generations of Terah; Terah begat Abram, Nahor and Haran; and Haran begat Lot.
Genesis 11:18 And Abram and Nahor took them wives; and the name of Abram's wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah and the father of Iscah; but Sarai was barren, and she bear no child.
Genesis 11:19 And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran, his son's son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram's wife; and went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.
Genesis 12:Intro God's command to Abram -- He by faith obeys -- Covenant with Abram -- Pharaoh plagued for Sarai's sake.
Genesis 12:1 Now, the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will show thee;
Genesis 12:3 So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him. And Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.
Genesis 12:4 And Abram took Sarai, his wife, and Lot, his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.
Genesis 12:5 And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, and the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanites were then in the land.
Genesis 12:6 And the Lord appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land. And there builded he an altar unto the Lord, who appeared unto him.
Genesis 12:7 And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Beth-el, and pitched his tent, leaving Beth-el on the west, and Hai was on the east. And there he builded an altar unto the Lord, and called upon the name of the Lord. And Abram journeyed, going on still toward the south.
Genesis 12:8 And there was a famine in the land; and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there; for the famine became grievous in the land.
Genesis 12:10 And it came to pass, that when Abram was come into Egypt, the Egyptians beheld the woman, that she was very fair.
Genesis 12:12 And he entreated Abram well for her sake; and he had sheep, and oxen, and he asses, and menservants, and maidservants, and she asses, and camels.
Genesis 12:14 And Pharaoh called Abram, and said, What hast thou done unto me in this thing? Why didst thou not tell me that she was thy wife? Why saidst thou, She is my sister? so I might have taken her unto me to wife; now therefore, behold I say unto thee, Take thy wife and go thy way.
Genesis 13:Intro Abram journeys out of Egypt -- Separation of Abram and Lot, with their substance -- Abram dwells in Mamre, Lot in the plain toward Sodom.
Genesis 13:1 And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, unto the south. And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.
Genesis 13:2 And he went on his journey from the south, even to Bethel, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Hai; unto the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first; and there Abram called on the name of the Lord.
Genesis 13:3 And Lot also, which went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents.
Genesis 13:6 And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we are brethren.
Genesis 13:10 Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.
Genesis 13:12 And the Lord said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art, northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward;
Genesis 13:15 Arise, walk through the land in the length of it, and in the breadth of it, for I will give it unto thee. Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which was in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the Lord.
Genesis 14:Intro Melchizedek blesses Abram, and gives him bread and wine -- Lot taken captive, is rescued by Abram -- The priesthood -- Abram pays tithes to Melchizedek, keeper of the Lord's storehouse.
Genesis 14:12 And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew, the man of God, for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eschol, and brother of Aner; and these were confederate with Abram.
Genesis 14:13 And when Abram heard that Lot, his brother's son, was taken captive, he armed his trained men, and they which were born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued unto Dan.
Genesis 14:18 And he gave to Abram, and he blessed him, and said, Blessed Abram, thou art a man of the most high God, possessor of heaven and of earth;
Genesis 14:20 And Abram gave him tithes of all he had taken.
Genesis 14:21 And the king of Sodom said to Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.
Genesis 14:22 And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lifted up my hand unto the Lord, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth.
Genesis 14:23 And have sworn that I will not take of thee from a thread even to a shoe-latchet, and that I will not take anything that is thine, (lest thou shouldst say, I have made Abram rich;)
Genesis 14:25 And Melchizedek lifted up his voice and blessed Abram.
Genesis 14:37 And he lifted up his voice, and he blessed Abram, being the high priest, and the keeper of the storehouse of God;
Genesis 14:39 Wherefore, Abram paid unto him tithes of all that he had, of all the riches which he possessed, which God had given him more than that which he had need.
Genesis 14:40 And it came to pass, that God blessed Abram, and gave unto him riches, and honor, and lands for an everlasting possession; according to the covenant which he had made, and according to the blessing wherewith Melchizedek had blessed him.
Genesis 15:Intro God covenants with Abram -- Abram's vision -- The captivity foretold.
Genesis 15:1 And it came to pass, that after these things, the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying;
Genesis 15:2 Fear not, Abram; I will be thy shield; I will be thy exceeding great reward. And according to the blessings of my servant, I will give unto thee.
Genesis 15:3 And Abram said, Lord God, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and Eliezer of Damascus was made the steward of my house?
Genesis 15:4 And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed; and lo, one born in my house is mine heir.
Genesis 15:9 And Abram said, Lord God, how wilt thou give me this land for an everlasting inheritance?
Genesis 15:12 And it came to pass that Abram looked forth and saw the days of the Son of Man, and was glad, and his soul found rest, and he believed in the Lord; and the Lord counted it unto him for righteousness.
Genesis 15:14 And Abram said, Lord, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it? yet he believed God. And the Lord said unto him, Take me a heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtle-dove, and a young pigeon.
Genesis 15:16 And when the fowls came down upon the carcasses, Abram drove them away. And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, a great horror of darkness fell upon him.
Genesis 15:17 And the Lord spake, and he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land which shall not be theirs, and shall serve strangers; and they shall be afflicted, and serve them four hundred years; and also that nation whom they shall serve will I judge; and afterwards shall they come out with great substance.
Genesis 15:20 And it came to pass, that when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold, a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp which passed between those pieces which Abram had divided.
Genesis 15:21 And in that same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river Euphrates;
Genesis 16:Intro Sarai's gift to Abram -- God does not acknowledge Hagar as Abram's wife Ishmael born -- Sarai is promised a child.
Genesis 16:2 And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold, now, the Lord hath restrained me from bearing; I pray thee go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened unto the voice of Sarai.
Genesis 16:3 And Sarai, Abram's wife, took Hagar her maid, the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband, Abram, to be his wife.
Genesis 16:5 And Sarai said unto Abram, My wrong is upon thee; I have given my maid into thy bosom; and when she saw that she had conceived, I was despised in her eyes; the Lord judge between me and thee.
Genesis 16:6 But Abram said unto Sarai, Behold, thy maid is in thy hands; do to her as it pleaseth thee.
Genesis 16:19 And Hagar bear Abram a son; and Abram called his son's name, which Hagar bear, Ishmael.
Genesis 16:20 And Abram was four-score and six years old, when Hagar bare Ishmael to Abram.
Genesis 17:1 And when Abram was ninety and nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I, the Almighty God, give unto thee a commandment; that thou shalt walk uprightly before me, and be perfect.
Genesis 17:3 And it came to pass, that Abram fell on his face, and called upon the name of the Lord.
Genesis 17:9 And this covenant I make, that thy children may be known among all nations. Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be called Abraham; for, a father of many nations have I made thee.
Nehemiah 9:7 Thou art the Lord the God, who didst choose Abram, and broughtest him forth out of Ur of the Chaldees, and gavest him the name of Abraham;
