1 Corinthians 6:7 Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do you not rather take wrong? Why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?

1 Corinthians 7:39 The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.

1 Corinthians 9:8 Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also?

1 Corinthians 9:9 For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen?

1 Corinthians 9:20 And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;

1 Corinthians 9:21 To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.

1 Corinthians 14:21 In the law, it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord.

1 Corinthians 14:34 Let your women keep silence in the churches; for it is not permitted unto them to rule; but to be under obedience, as also saith the law.

1 Corinthians 15:56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Galatians 2:19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

Galatians 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God; for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

Galatians 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Galatians 3:5 He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Galatians 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, Cursed is everyone that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

Galatians 3:17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.

Galatians 3:18 For if the inheritance is of the law, then it is no more of promise; but God gave it to Abraham by promise.

Galatians 3:19 Wherefore then, the law was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made in the law given to Moses, who was ordained by the hand of angels to be a mediator of this first covenant, (the law.)

Galatians 3:20 Now this mediator was not a mediator of the new covenant; but there is one mediator of the new covenant, who is Christ, as it is written in the law concerning the promises made to Abraham and his seed. Now Christ is the mediator of life; for this is the promise which God made unto Abraham.

Galatians 3:21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid; for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.

Galatians 3:23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.

Hebrews 7:5 And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham;

Hebrews 7:11 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchizedek, and not be called after the order of Aaron?

Hebrews 7:12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

Hebrews 7:16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.

Hebrews 7:19 For the law was administered without an oath and made nothing perfect, but was only the bringing in of a better hope; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

Hebrews 8:4 Therefore while he was on the earth, he offered for a sacrifice his own life for the sins of the people. Now every priest under the law, must needs offer gifts, or sacrifices, according to the law.

James 2:10 For whosoever shall, save in one point, keep the whole law, he is guilty of all.

James 2:11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.

James 4:11 Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law; but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.

1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law; for sin is the transgression of the law.

1 Nephi 1:116 And now, when I, Nephi, had heard these words, I remembered the words of the Lord which he spake unto me in the wilderness, saying, That inasmuch as thy seed shall keep my commandments, they shall prosper in the land of promise.

1 Nephi 1:117 Yea, and I also thought that they could not keep the commandments of the Lord according to the law of Moses, save they should have the law.

1 Nephi 5:98 And we know that the people who were in the land of Jerusalem, were a righteous people;

2 Nephi 1:67 And men are instructed sufficiently, that they know good from evil.

2 Nephi 1:68 And the law is given unto men.

2 Nephi 1:69 And by the law, no flesh is justified, or, by the law, men are cut off.

2 Nephi 1:71 Wherefore, redemption cometh in and through the holy Messiah: for he is full of grace and truth.

2 Nephi 1:79 Wherefore, they stand in the presence of him, to be judged of him, according to the truth and holiness which is in him.

2 Nephi 1:87 Wherefore, this thing must needs destroy the wisdom of God, and his eternal purposes; and also, the power, and the mercy, and the justice of God.

2 Nephi 2:34 Yet I will not loose his tongue, that he shall speak much: for I will not make him mighty in speaking.

2 Nephi 6:53 And where there is no condemnation, the mercies of the Holy One of Israel have claim upon them, because of the atonement:

2 Nephi 6:55 And they are restored to that God who gave them breath, which is the Holy One of Israel.

2 Nephi 6:92 That ye may not remember your awful guilt in perfectness, and be constrained to exclaim, Holy, holy are thy judgments, O Lord God Almighty.

2 Nephi 8:7 Behold, my soul delighteth in proving unto my people the truth of the coming of Christ:

2 Nephi 8:18 And it shall come to pass in the last days, when the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hill, and all nations shall flow unto it,

2 Nephi 9:57 And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to hear from the dead?

2 Nephi 11:44 For we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.

2 Nephi 11:45 And notwithstanding we believe in Christ, we keep the law of Moses, and look forward with steadfastness unto Christ, until the law shall be fulfilled; for, for this end was the law given;

2 Nephi 11:46 Wherefore, the law hath become dead unto us, and we are made alive in Christ, because of our faith;

2 Nephi 11:48 And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.

2 Nephi 11:49 Wherefore, we speak concerning the law, that our children may know the deadness of the law;

2 Nephi 11:50 And they, by knowing the deadness of the law, may look forward unto that life which is in Christ, and know for what end the law was given.

2 Nephi 11:53 And the words which I have spoken, shall stand as a testimony against you; for they are sufficient to teach any man the right way:

2 Nephi 11:56 Wherefore ye must bow down before him, and worship him with all your might, mind and strength, and your whole soul, and if ye do this, ye shall in no wise be cast out.

2 Nephi 11:58 And after Christ shall have risen from the dead, he shall shew himself unto you, my children, and my beloved brethren;

Jacob 3:5 Behold, they believed in Christ, and worshipped the Father in his name; and also, we worship the Father in his name.

Jacob 5:9 And it came to pass that he came unto me; and on this wise did he speak unto me, saying: Brother Jacob, I have sought much opportunity that I might speak unto you: for I have heard and also know, that thou goest about much, preaching that which ye call the gospel, or the doctrine of Christ;

Jarom 1:10 And now, behold, two hundred years had passed away, and the people of Nephi had waxed strong in the land.

Jarom 1:23 And it came to pass that the prophets of the Lord did threaten the people of Nephi, according to the word of God, that if they did not keep the commandments, but should fall into transgression, they should be destroyed from off the face of the land;

Mosiah 1:29 And there were a great number, even so many that they did not number them; for they had multiplied exceedingly, and waxed great in the land.

Mosiah 1:74 For behold, there is a wo pronounced upon him who listeth to obey that spirit: for if he listeth to obey him, and remaineth and dieth in his sins, the same drinketh damnation to his own soul;

Mosiah 1:109 And the Lord God hath sent his holy prophets among all the children of men to declare these things to every kindred, nation, and tongue, that thereby whosoever should believe that Christ should come, the same might receive remission of their sins, and rejoice with exceedingly great joy, even as though he had already come among them.

Mosiah 1:112 And also holy prophets spake unto them concerning his coming;

Mosiah 7:83 Ye have not applied your hearts to understanding; therefore, ye have not been wise. Therefore, what teach ye this people?

Mosiah 7:84 And they said, We teach the Law of Moses.

Mosiah 7:89 Yea, ye know that I speak the truth; and you ought to tremble before God.

Mosiah 7:90 And it shall come to pass that ye shall be smitten for your iniquities: for ye have said that ye teach the Law of Moses.

Mosiah 7:91 And what know ye concerning the Law of Moses?

Mosiah 7:92 Doth salvation come by the Law of Moses? What say ye?

Mosiah 8:2 I say unto you, Nay; for if you had, the Lord would not have caused me to come forth and to prophesy evil concerning this people.

Mosiah 8:3 And now ye have said that salvation cometh by the Law of Moses.

Mosiah 8:4 I say unto you that it is expedient that ye should keep the Law of Moses as yet; but I say unto you, that the time shall come when it shall no more be expedient to keep the Law of Moses.

Mosiah 8:5 And moreover, I say unto you, that salvation doth not come by the law alone; and were it not for the atonement which God himself shall make for the sins and iniquities of his people, that they must unavoidably perish, notwithstanding the law of Moses.

Mosiah 8:6 And now I say unto you, that it was expedient that there should be a law given to the children of Israel, yea, even a very strict law: for they were a stiff-necked people: quick to do iniquity, and slow to remember the Lord their God;

Mosiah 8:8 But behold, I say unto you, that all these things were types of things to come.

Mosiah 8:9 And now, did they understand the law?

Mosiah 8:89 And now had ye not ought to tremble and repent of your sins, and remember only in and through Christ ye can be saved?

Mosiah 11:49 And thus the language of Nephi began to be taught among all the people of the Lamanites.

Mosiah 13:14 Therefore I will be your king the remainder of my days;

Mosiah 13:19 That there should be no wars nor contentions, no stealing, nor plundering, nor murdering, nor any manner of iniquity;

Mosiah 13:35 Now it is not common that the voice of the people desireth anything contrary to that which is right; but it is common for the lesser part of the people to desire that which is not right;

Mosiah 13:38 Yea, then is the time he will visit you with great destruction, even as he has hitherto visited this land.

Mosiah 13:55 Yea, and every man expressed a willingness to answer for his own sins.

Mosiah 13:61 Therefore they did esteem him, yea, exceedingly, beyond measure.

Alma 1:19 And thou hast shed the blood of a righteous man, yea, a man who has done much good among this people; and were we to spare thee, his blood would come upon us for vengeance;

Alma 1:20 Therefore thou art condemned to die, according to the law which has been given us by Mosiah, our last king;

Alma 1:24 Nevertheless this did not put an end to the spreading of priestcraft through the land; for there were many who loved the vain things of the world, and they went forth preaching false doctrines, and this they did for the sake of riches and honor.

Alma 1:25 Nevertheless they durst not lie, if it were known, for fear of the law, for liars were punished; therefore they pretended to preach according to their belief:

Alma 1:26 And now the law could have no power on any man for his belief.

Alma 1:30 Because they were not proud in their own eyes, and because they did impart the word of God, one with another, without money and without price.

Alma 1:49 And wearing costly apparel; being lifted up in the pride of their own eyes; persecuting, lying, thieving, robbing, committing whoredoms, and murdering, and all manner of wickedness;

Alma 1:50 Nevertheless, the law was put in force upon all those who did transgress it, inasmuch as it were possible.

Alma 1:52 Therefore there was much peace among the people of Nephi, until the fifth year of the reign of the Judges.

Alma 1:55 Now this was alarming to the people of the church, and also to all those who had not been drawn away after the persuasions of Amlici:

Alma 8:19 Nevertheless, there were some among them who thought to question them, that by their cunning devices they might catch them in their words, that they might find witness against them, that they might deliver them to the Judges,

Alma 8:20 That they might be judged according to the law, and that they might be slain or cast into prison, according to the crime which they could make appear, or witness against them.

Alma 8:37 Why will ye yield yourselves unto him that he may have power over you, to blind your eyes, that ye will not understand the words which are spoken, according to their truth?

Alma 8:38 For behold, have I testified against your law?

Alma 8:40 And now behold, I say unto you, that the foundation of the destruction of this people is beginning to be laid by the unrighteousness of your lawyers and your judges.

Alma 8:47 Now the object of these lawyers was to get gain; and they got gain according to their employ.

Alma 8:50 And the judge executed authority, and sent forth officers that the man should be brought before him;

Alma 8:51 And he judged the man according to the law and the evidences which were brought against him, and thus the man was compelled to pay that which he owed, or be striped, or be cast out from among the people, as a thief and a robber.

Alma 10:33 But the more part of them were desirous that they might destroy Alma and Amulek; for they were angry with Alma, because of the plainness of his words unto Zeezrom;

Alma 10:36 But it came to pass that they did not; but they took them and bound them with strong cords, and took them before the chief judge of the land.

Alma 10:66 And it came to pass that they departed and went their ways, but came again on the morrow; and the judge also smote them again on their cheeks.

Alma 14:73 And it came to pass that when the Lamanites saw that they could not overpower the Nephites, they returned again to their own land; and many of them came over to dwell in the land of Ishmael and the land of Nephi, and did join themselves to the people of God, who were the people of Anti-Nephi-Lehi;

Alma 14:74 And they did also bury their weapons of war, according as their brethren had, and they began to be a righteous people; and they did walk in the ways of the Lord, and did observe to keep his commandments, and his statutes, yea, and they did keep the Law of Moses; for it was expedient that they should keep the Law of Moses as yet, for it was not all fulfilled.

Alma 14:75 But notwithstanding the Law of Moses, they did look forward to the coming of Christ, concerning that the Law of Moses was a type of his coming, and believing that they must keep those outward performances, until the time that he should be revealed unto them.

Alma 15:9 And the king said unto him, Yea, if the Lord saith unto us, Go, we will go down unto our brethren, and we will be their slaves until we repair unto them the many murders and sins which we have committed against them.

Alma 16:3 But it came to pass after they had buried their dead, and also after the days of fastings, and mourning, and prayer, (and it was in the sixteenth year of the reign of the Judges over the people of Nephi,) there began to be continual peace throughout all the land, yea, and the people did observe to keep the commandments of the Lord;

Alma 16:7 But it came to pass in the latter end of the seventeenth year, there came a man into the land of Zarahemla; and he was antichrist, for he began to preach unto the people against the prophecies which had been spoken by the prophets concerning the coming of Christ.

Alma 16:9 For thus saith the scripture, Choose ye this day whom ye will serve.

Alma 16:10 Now if a man desired to serve God, it was his privilege, or rather if he believed in God, it was his privilege to serve him; but if he did not believe in him, there was no law to punish him.

Alma 16:11 But if he murdered, he was punished unto death; and if he robbed, he was also punished; and if he stole, he was also punished; and if he committed adultery, he was also punished; yea, for all this wickedness, they were punished; for there was a law that men should be judged according to their crimes.

Alma 16:12 Nevertheless, there was no law against a man's belief; therefore, a man was punished only for the crimes which he had done; therefore all men were on equal grounds.

Alma 16:40 Now Alma said unto him, Thou knowest that we do not glut ourselves upon the labors of this people; for behold, I have labored even from the commencement of the reign of the Judges, until now, with mine own hands, for my support, notwithstanding my many travels round about the land, to declare the word of God unto my people.

Alma 16:85 Now the Zoramites were dissenters from the Nephites; therefore they had the word of God preached unto them.

Alma 16:211 Now there is not any man that can sacrifice his own blood, which will atone for the sins of another.

Alma 16:212 Now if a man murdereth, behold, will our law, which is just, take the life of his brother? I say unto you, Nay.

Alma 16:213 But the law requireth the life of him who hath murdered; therefore there can be nothing, which is short of an infinite atonement, which will suffice for the sins of the world; therefore it is expedient that there should be a great and last sacrifice;

Alma 16:214 And then shall there be, or it is expedient there should be, a stop to the shedding of blood; then shall the Law of Moses be fulfilled; yea, it shall all be fulfilled; every jot and tittle, and none shall have passed away.

Alma 16:216 This being the intent of this last sacrifice, to bring about the bowels of mercy, which overpowereth justice and bringeth about means unto men that they may have faith unto repentance.

Alma 19:98 Now repentance could not come unto men, except there were a punishment, which also was as eternal as the life of the soul should be, affixed opposite to the plan of happiness, which was as eternal also as the life of the soul.

Alma 19:99 Now, how could a man repent, except he should sin? How could he sin, if there was no law? How could there be a law, save there was a punishment?

Alma 19:100 Now there was a punishment affixed, and a just law given, which brought remorse of conscience unto man.

Alma 19:101 Now if there was no law given, if a man murdered he should die, would he be afraid he should die if he should murder?

Alma 19:102 And also, if there was no law given against sin, men would not be afraid to sin.

Alma 19:103 And if there was no law given if men sinned, what could justice do, or mercy either: for they would have no claim upon the creature.

Alma 19:105 But God ceaseth not to be God, and mercy claimeth the penitent, and mercy cometh because of the atonement; and the atonement bringeth to pass the resurrection of the dead: and the resurrection of the dead bringeth back men into the presence of God;

Alma 23:1 And now it came to pass in the commencement of the twenty and fifth year of the reign of the Judges over the people of Nephi, they having established peace between the people of Lehi and the people of Morianton concerning their lands, and having commenced the twenty and fifth year in peace;

Alma 23:2 Nevertheless, they did not long maintain an entire peace in the land, for there began to be a contention among the people concerning the chief judge, Pahoran; for behold, there were a part of the people who desired that a few particular points of the law should be altered.

Alma 23:3 But behold, Pahoran would not alter, nor suffer the law to be altered; therefore he did not hearken to those who had sent in their voices with their petitions, concerning the altering of the law;

Alma 23:4 Therefore those who were desirous that the law should be altered, were angry with him, and desired that he should no longer be chief judge over the land; therefore there arose a warm dispute concerning the matter; but not unto bloodshed.

Alma 29:8 And behold, Pachus was slain, and his men were taken prisoners; and Pahoran was restored to his judgment seat.

Alma 29:10 Yea, those men of Pachus, and those king-men, whosoever would not take up arms in the defense of their country, but would fight against it, were put to death.

Alma 29:55 Therefore Helaman and his brethren went forth, and did declare the word of God with much power, unto the convincing of many people of their wickedness, which did cause them to repent of their sins, and to be baptized unto the Lord their God.

Helaman 1:46 And he ran and told Helaman all the things which he had seen, and heard, and done.

Helaman 2:64 For as their laws and their governments were established by the voice of the people, and they who chose evil were more numerous than they who chose good, therefore they were ripening for destruction, for the laws had become corrupted.

Helaman 3:33 And they cried out against him, saying unto the people, Why do ye not seize upon this man and bring him forth, that he may be condemned according to the crime which he has done?

Helaman 3:34 Why seest thou this man and hearest him revile against this people and against our law?

Helaman 5:Intro The prophecy of Samuel, the Lamanite, to the Nephites.

Helaman 5:92 But behold, salvation hath come unto them, through the preaching of the Nephites; and for this intent hath the Lord prolonged their days.

3 Nephi 1:27 And it came to pass that Nephi went forth among the people, and also many others, baptizing unto repentance, in the which, there were a great remission of sins.

3 Nephi 1:29 Now in this thing they did err, having not understood the scriptures.

3 Nephi 2:87 And as many as would repent of their sins and enter into a covenant that they would murder no more, were set at liberty;

3 Nephi 3:29 Now behold this was contrary to the laws of the land, that any man should be put to death, except they had power from the governor of the land;

3 Nephi 3:30 Therefore a complaint came unto the land of Zarahemla, to the governor of the land, against these judges who had condemned the prophets of the Lord unto death, not according to the law.

3 Nephi 3:31 Now it came to pass that they were taken and brought up before the judge, to be judged of the crime which they had done, according to the law which had been given by the people.

3 Nephi 3:33 And they did enter into a covenant one with another, yea, even into that covenant which was given by them of old, which covenant was given and administered by the devil, to combine against all righteousness;

3 Nephi 3:34 Therefore they did combine against the people of the Lord, and enter into a covenant to destroy them, and to deliver those who were guilty of murder from the grasp of justice, which was about to be administered according to the law.

3 Nephi 4:46 I came unto my own, and my own received me not. And the scriptures, concerning my coming, are fulfilled.

3 Nephi 5:63 Therefore let your light so shine before this people, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

3 Nephi 5:64 Think not that I am come to destroy the law or the prophets. I am not come to destroy but to fulfill;

3 Nephi 5:65 For verily I say unto you, One jot nor one tittle hath not passed away from the law, but in me it hath all been fulfilled.

3 Nephi 5:66 And behold I have given you the law and the commandments of my Father, that ye shall believe in me, and that ye shall repent of your sins, and come unto me with a broken heart and a contrite spirit.

3 Nephi 5:85 But I say unto you, that ye shall not resist evil, but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

3 Nephi 5:90 But behold I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them who despitefully use you and persecute you,

3 Nephi 6:23 If ye then being evil know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

3 Nephi 7:2 Therefore whoso remembereth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, him will I raise up at the last day.

3 Nephi 7:4 And he said unto them, Marvel not that I said unto you, that old things had passed away, and that all things had become new.

3 Nephi 7:5 Behold, I say unto you, that the law is fulfilled that was given unto Moses.

3 Nephi 7:8 And because I said unto you, that old things hath passed away, I do not destroy that which hath been spoken concerning things which are to come.

3 Nephi 7:9 For behold, the covenant which I have made with my people, is not all fulfilled; but the law which was given unto Moses, hath an end in me.

3 Nephi 7:11 Behold, I have given unto you the commandments; therefore keep my commandments.

3 Nephi 11:24 And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts.

4 Nephi 1:12 And they were married, and given in marriage, and were blessed according to the multitude of the promises which the Lord had made unto them.

Ether 3:62 And it came to pass that the people did revile against the prophets, and did mock them.

Ether 4:5 And it came to pass that Jared was anointed king over the people, by the hand of wickedness; and he gave unto Akish his daughter to wife.

Ether 5:10 Wherefore ye may also have hope, and be partakers of the gift, if ye will but have faith.

Moroni 7:27 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, hath miracles ceased, because Christ hath ascended into heaven, and hath sat down on the right hand of God, to claim of the Father his rights of mercy which he hath upon the children of men;

Moroni 8:8 And the word of the Lord came to me by the power of the Holy Ghost, saying, Listen to the words of Christ, your Redeemer, your Lord, and your God.

Moroni 8:24 Listen unto them and give heed, or they stand against you at the judgment seat of Christ.

Moroni 8:25 For behold that all little children are alive in Christ, and also all they that are without the law.

Moroni 8:27 But is mockery before God, denying the mercies of Christ, and the power of his Holy Spirit, and putting trust in dead works.

DC 20:1a Behold, I say unto you, that all old covenants have I caused to be done away in this thing, and this is a new and everlasting covenant; even that which was from the beginning.

DC 23:7a And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall lay their hands upon you by violence, ye shall command to be smitten in my name, and behold I will smite them according to your words, in mine own due time.

DC 28:8e speaking unto you that you may naturally understand, but unto myself my works have no end, neither beginning; but it is given unto you that ye may understand, because ye have asked it of me and are agreed.

DC 38:7a And that ye might escape the power of the enemy, and be gathered unto me a righteous people, without spot and blameless:

DC 41:1a Hearken and hear, O ye my people, saith the Lord and your God, ye whom I delight to bless with the greatest blessings; ye that hear me: and ye that hear me not will I curse, that have professed my name, with the heaviest of all cursings.

DC 41:1b Hearken, O ye elders of my church whom I have called; behold, I give unto you a commandment, that ye shall assemble yourselves together to agree upon my word, and by the prayer of your faith ye shall receive my law, that ye may know how to govern my church, and have all things right before me.

DC 41:2a And I will be your Ruler when I come; and, behold, I come quickly; and ye shall see that my law is kept.

DC 42:1a Hearken, O ye elders of my church, who have assembled themselves together, in my name, even Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God, the Savior of the world, inasmuch as they believe on my name and keep my commandments;

DC 42:15b And I give unto you a commandment, that then ye shall teach them unto all men; for they shall be taught unto all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people.

DC 42:22b but if there are more than two witnesses it is better; but he or she shall be condemned by the mouth of two witnesses,

DC 42:22e And thus ye shall do in all cases which shall come before you.

DC 42:22f And if a man or woman shall rob, he or she shall be delivered up unto the law of the land.

DC 42:22g And if he or she shall steal, he or she shall be delivered up unto the law of the land.

DC 42:22h And if he or she shall lie, he or she shall be delivered up unto the law of the land.

DC 42:23e And if anyone offend openly, he or she shall be rebuked openly, that he or she may be ashamed.

DC 43:Intro SECTION 43 Revelation given through Joseph Smith, Jr., February 1831 at Kirtland, Ohio. It is addressed to the elders of the church, and contains directions sought by Joseph for the guidance of some who had been misled by a Mrs. Hubble, who claimed to have received "revelations" concerning the government of the church. A similar difficulty had arisen in connection with Hiram Page's "peepstone" (see section 27). The church was not again disturbed over this question until the death of Joseph Smith in 1844.

DC 43:2a But verily, verily I say unto you, that none else shall be appointed unto this gift except it be through him, for if it be taken from him he shall not have power, except to appoint another in his stead;

DC 43:2c For verily I say unto you, that he that is ordained of me, shall come in at the gate and be ordained as I have told you before, to teach those revelations which you have received, and shall receive through him whom I have appointed.

DC 43:3a And now, behold, I give unto you a commandment, that when ye are assembled together, ye shall instruct and edify each other, that ye may know how to act and direct my church how to act upon the points of my law and commandments, which I have given;

DC 44:2c and many shall be converted, insomuch that ye shall obtain power to organize yourselves according to the laws of man, that your enemies may not have power over you, that you may be preserved in all things, that you may be enabled to keep my laws, that every band may be broken wherewith the enemy seeketh to destroy my people.

DC 45:9d And then shall they weep because of their iniquities; then shall they lament because they persecuted their King.

DC 58:4d And whoso standeth in this mission is appointed to be a judge in Israel, like as it was in ancient days, to divide the lands of the heritage of God unto his children, and to judge his people by the testimony of the just, and by the assistance of his counselors, according to the laws of the kingdom which are given by the prophets of God;

DC 58:7b It is wisdom in me that my servant Martin Harris should be an example unto the church, in laying his moneys before the bishop of the church.

DC 59:5b and in nothing doth man offend God, or against none is his wrath kindled, save those who confess not his hand in all things, and obey not his commandments.

DC 64:2f And he that repenteth not of his sins, and confesseth them not, then ye shall bring him before the church, and do with him as the Scriptures saith unto you, either by commandment, or by revelation.

DC 64:3a Verily I say, For this cause ye shall do these things.

DC 68:4a And again, inasmuch as parents have children in Zion, or in any of her stakes which are organized, that teach them not to understand the doctrine of repentance; faith in Christ the Son of the living God; and of baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of the hands when eight years old, the sin be upon the head of the parents;

DC 69:2b nevertheless, let my servant John Whitmer travel many times from place to place, and from church to church, that he may the more easily obtain knowledge--preaching and expounding, writing, copying, selecting, and obtaining all things which shall be for the good of the church, and for the rising generations, that shall grow up on the land of Zion, to possess it from generation to generation, for ever and ever. Amen.

DC 70:3a Behold, this is what the Lord requires of every man in his stewardship, even as I, the Lord, have appointed, or shall hereafter appoint unto any man.

DC 72:2 And now, verily I say unto you, My servant Newel K. Whitney is the man who shall be appointed and ordained unto this power; this is the will of the Lord your God, your Redeemer. Even so. Amen.

DC 72:3d and the labors of the faithful who labor in spiritual things, in administering the gospel and the things of the kingdom unto the church, and unto the world, shall answer the debt unto the bishop in Zion;

DC 74:1 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband, else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.

DC 74:2a Now in the days of the apostles the law of circumcision was had among all the Jews who believed not the gospel of Jesus Christ.

DC 74:2b And it came to pass that there arose a great contention among the people concerning the law of circumcision, for the unbelieving husband was desirous that his children should be circumcised and become subject to the Law of Moses, which law was fulfilled.

DC 74:3a And it came to pass that the children being brought up in subjection to the Law of Moses, and giving heed to the traditions of their fathers, believed not the gospel of Christ, wherein they became unholy;

DC 76:6b these are they who are of the terrestrial, whose glory differs from that of the church of the Firstborn, who have received the fullness of the Father, even as that of the moon differs from the sun of the firmament.

DC 81:1c Beware from henceforth and refrain from sin lest sore judgments fall upon your heads; for unto whom much is given much is required; and he who sins against the greater light shall receive the greater condemnation.

DC 83:4b but they hardened their hearts, and could not endure his presence, therefore, the Lord, in his wrath (for his anger was kindled against them), swore that they should not enter into his rest, while in the wilderness, which rest is the fullness of his glory.

DC 85:3a And the light which now shineth, which giveth you light, is through him who enlighteneth your eyes, which is the same light that quickeneth your understandings; which light proceedeth forth from the presence of God, to fill the immensity of space.

DC 85:4d that bodies who are of the celestial kingdom may possess it for ever and ever; for, for this intent was it made and created; and for this intent are they sanctified.

DC 85:5a And they who are not sanctified through the law which I have given unto you, even the law of Christ, must inherit another kingdom, even that of a terrestrial kingdom, or that of a telestial kingdom.

DC 85:5c Therefore, he must abide a kingdom which is not a kingdom of glory.

DC 85:7 For what doth it profit a man if a gift is bestowed upon him, and he receive not the gift? Behold, he rejoices not in that which is given unto him, neither rejoices in him who is the giver of the gift.

DC 85:8a And again, verily I say unto you, that which is governed by law, is also preserved by law, and perfected and sanctified by the same.

DC 85:8b That which breaketh a law, and abideth not by law, but seeketh to become a law unto itself, and willeth to abide in sin, and altogether abideth in sin, can not be sanctified by law, neither by mercy, justice, or judgment; therefore, they must remain filthy still.

DC 85:9a All kingdoms have a law given: and there are many kingdoms; for there is no space in the which there is no kingdom; and there is no kingdom in which there is no space, either a greater or lesser kingdom.

DC 85:10c he comprehendeth all things, and all things are before him, and all things are round about him; and he is above all things, and in all things, and is through all things, and is round about all things: and all things are by him, and of him; even God, for ever and ever.

DC 85:21a Also, I give unto you a commandment, that ye shall continue in prayer and fasting from this time forth.

DC 85:22b He that seeketh me early shall find me, and shall not be forsaken.

DC 95:1c the Lord hath sworn and decreed that they shall be granted; therefore, he giveth this promise unto you, with an immutable covenant, that they shall be fulfilled, and all things wherewith you have been afflicted, shall work together for your good, and to my name's glory saith the Lord.

DC 95:2a And now, verily I say unto you, concerning the laws of the land, It is my will that my people should observe to do all things whatsoever I command them, and that law of the land, which is constitutional, supporting that principle of freedom, in maintaining rights and privileges belongs to all mankind and is justifiable before me;

DC 95:2b therefore, I, the Lord, justify you and your brethren of my church in befriending that law which is the constitutional law of the land; and as pertaining to law of man, whatsoever is more or less than these, cometh of evil.

DC 95:5f nevertheless thine enemy is in thine hands, and if thou reward him according to his works, thou art justified, if he has sought thy life, and thy life is endangered by him; thine enemy is in thine hands, and thou art justified.

DC 95:6a Behold, this is the law I gave unto my servant, Nephi; and thy father Joseph, and Jacob, and Isaac, and Abraham, and all mine ancient prophets and apostles.

DC 99:2a Joseph Smith, Jr., Sidney Rigdon, and Frederick G. Williams, were acknowledged presidents by the voice of the council; and Joseph Smith, Sr., John Smith, Joseph Coe, John Johnson, Martin Harris, John S. Carter, Jared Carter, Oliver Cowdery, Samuel H. Smith, Orson Hyde, Sylvester Smith, and Luke Johnson, high priests, were chosen to be a standing council for the church, by the unanimous voice of the council.

DC 101:2f that the poor shall be exalted, in that the rich are made low; for the earth is full, and there is enough and to spare; yea, I prepared all things, and have given unto the children of men to be agents unto themselves.

DC 102:2a Behold, I say unto you, Were it not for the transgressions of my people, speaking concerning the church and not individuals, they might have been redeemed even now;

DC 102:2b but, behold, they have not learned to be obedient to the things which I require at their hands, but are full of all manner of evil, and do not impart of their substance, as becometh Saints, to the poor and afflicted among them, and are not united according to the union required by the law of the celestial kingdom;

DC 102:7b Talk not judgment, neither boast of faith, nor of mighty works; but carefully gather together, as much in one region as can be consistently with the feelings of the people:

DC 102:10a Verily I say unto you, It is expedient in me that the first elders of my church should receive their endowment from on high, in my house, which I have commanded to be built unto my name in the land of Kirtland;

DC 106:1a Verily, thus saith the Lord, I require all their surplus property to be put into the hands of the bishop of my church of Zion, for the building of mine house, and for the laying the foundation of Zion, and for the priesthood, and for the debts of the presidency of my church;

DC 106:1b and this shall be the beginning of the tithing of my people; and after that, those who have thus been tithed, shall pay one tenth of all their interest annually; and this shall be a standing law unto them for ever, for my holy priesthood, saith the Lord.

DC 106:2a Verily I say unto you, It shall come to pass that all those who gather unto the land of Zion shall be tithed of their surplus properties, and shall observe this law, or they shall not be found worthy to abide among you.

DC 107:26 Let my servant Henry G. Sherwood pay stock into that house, as seemeth him good, for himself and his seed after him, from generation to generation.

DC 107:29f that my servant Hyrum may bear record of the things which I shall show unto him, that his name may be had in honorable remembrance from generation to generation, for ever and ever.

DC 107:32c Let him come and locate his family in the neighborhood in which my servant Joseph resides, and, in all his journeyings let him lift up his voice as with the sound of a trump, and warn the inhabitants of the earth to flee the wrath to come;

DC 107:34b and let him repent of all his folly, and clothe himself with charity, and cease to do evil, and lay aside all his hard speeches, and pay stock also into the hands of the quorum of the Nauvoo House, for himself and for his generation after him, from generation to generation,

DC 107:39a I give unto you my servant Joseph, to be a presiding elder over all my church, to be a translator, a revelator, a seer, and prophet.

DC 108:13a Behold, and lo, there are none to deliver you, for ye obeyed not my voice when I called to you out of the heavens, ye believed not my servants; and when they were sent unto you ye received them not;

DC 110:9a It may seem to some to be a very bold doctrine that we talk of--a power which records or binds on earth and binds in heaven; nevertheless, in all ages of the world, whenever the Lord has given a dispensation of the priesthood to any man by actual revelation, or any set of men, this power has always been given.

DC 110:25b I am, as ever, your humble servant and never deviating friend, JOSEPH SMITH

DC 111:4c It is not right to persuade a woman to be baptized contrary to the will of her husband, neither is it lawful to influence her to leave her husband.

DC 112:2 We believe that no government can exist, in peace, except such laws are framed and held inviolate as will secure to each individual the free exercise of conscience, the right and control of property, and the protection of life.

DC 112:4a We believe that religion is instituted of God, and that men are amenable to him and to him only for the exercise of it, unless their religious opinion prompts them to infringe upon the rights and liberties of others;

DC 112:10b but we do not believe that any religious society has authority to try men on the right of property or life, to take from them this world's goods, or put them in jeopardy of either life or limb, neither to inflict any physical punishment upon them--they can only excommunicate them from their society and withdraw from their fellowship.

DC 113:3g In life they were not divided, and in death they were not separated!

DC 114:Intro SECTION 114 The first General Epistle of the Twelve under the presidency of Joseph Smith III, son of the Martyr, was addressed: "To all the Saints scattered abroad." To this Epistle an appendix was added by President Smith. The appendix was in the nature of a revelation from God and was so accepted by the church at the semiannual conference of 1871. Its inclusion in the Doctrine and Covenants was authorized by the semiannual conference of 1878. This is the first revelation given to the church through President Joseph Smith III. It was dated October 7, 1861. The Epistle and appendix were published October 25, 1861.

DC 116:1b Lo! It is my will that my gospel shall be preached to all nations in every land, and that men of every tongue shall minister before me:

DC 117:8c and let my servants Joseph Lakeman, Glaud Rodger, John T. Davies, and John S. Patterson be also appointed as witnesses of the Seventy before me.

DC 117:9b And until such time as the quorum of the Seventy shall be filled, their decision, if unanimous and agreeing with that of the quorum of the Twelve, shall be considered the same as if the quorum were filled.

DC 119:6f To facilitate unity in the song service of the church those to whom the work of providing a book of song has been intrusted may hasten their work in its time.

DC 120:1a The epistle is to be left without approval, or disapproval by the conference, as the judgment of the Quorum of the Twelve, until further experience shall have tested the matters therein stated.

DC 120:2c If a branch, or district be large, he who is chosen to preside should be an high priest, if there be one possessed of the spirit of wisdom to administer in the office of president;

DC 120:4a In both branches and districts the presiding officers should be considered and respected in their offices;

DC 120:4b nevertheless, the traveling presiding councils of the church being made by the law, their calling and the voice of the church the directing, regulating and advising authorities of the church, and representing it abroad, should when present in either district or branch be regarded and considered as the leading representative authorities of the church, and be respected as such, their counsel and advice be sought and respected when given;

DC 120:5 He that heareth him that is sent heareth the Lord who sent him, if he be called of God and be sent by the voice of the church.

DC 120:7a In matters of personal importance and conduct arising in branches or districts, the authorities of those branches and districts should be authorized and permitted to settle them;

DC 121:5a The following also received in 1885, is added by direction of the conference of 1894:

DC 122:4b My servant David H. Smith is yet in my hand and I will do my will in the time for its accomplishment. Be not troubled or fearful in this matter for it shall be well for my work in the end.

DC 122:5b the one whom I had called to preside over the church, had not yet approved himself unto the scattered flock; and I gave this command unto the quorum next in authority in spiritual things that the scattered ones, and those who had been made to suffer might have assurance that I would not suffer that he whom I had called should betray the confidence of the faithful, nor squander the moneys of the treasury for the purposes of self.

DC 122:6a And further the Spirit saith unto you, that "with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as a day";

DC 122:7d in which work, if they will but now take counsel, saith the spirit, they shall feel a peace and vigor of mind surpassing what they have enjoyed in the past.

DC 122:8d It is the will of God that they do this; yea, verily, thus saith the Spirit, If they will now enter upon this work, leaving the burden of care in organized districts, or conferences to the standing ministry, under the Presidency of the church;

DC 122:10a Should the church fall into disorder, or any portion of it, it is the duty of the several quorums of the church, or any one of them to take measures to correct such disorder; through the advice and direction of the Presidency, the Twelve, the Seventy, or a council of high priests, in case of emergency;

DC 122:11 The Spirit saith further: That it is wisdom that the Presidency and Twelve in council together make such appointments as may be necessary to provide for the fields not named in the appointments made by the Presidency and recommended to the Twelve, as may be agreed by them.

DC 122:12b In the meantime the district may be left to the care of its districts organization subject to the direction of the Presidency, no one of the missionary force being appointed to the charge thereof for the conference year, or longer if it shall be found advisable.

DC 122:13b so that when the traveling council shall separate for their several fields, there may be no longer reason for distrust, suspicion, or dissension;

DC 122:15 My servant Thomas W. Smith is in my hand; and his bishopric shall be continued for a season; if he fully recover he will enter again into the work; if I take him unto myself, another will be appointed in his stead when the quorum is filled.

DC 125:7b The direction of the Spirit is that they be left as they now are until such time as the increased numbers of the members of the church shall require either an enlargement of the number entitled to delegate, or that there may be a closer line drawn as to the number of delegates which the church shall require to meet.

DC 125:9 The only qualification for delegates chosen by the branches or districts should be membership and good standing, it being given by the Spirit that those other than the eldership should be represented in this way.

DC 125:12a The missions abroad other than those in the land of Joseph which were opened officially during the lifetime of the martyrs shall be considered as having been opened unto us, whether they were at once undertaken and prosecuted during the lifetime of the martyrs, or whether subsequent to their death they were prosecuted in righteousness-wherever they were sent.

DC 125:13e and also selecting and ordaining a high priest to act in the office of bishop, carrying with him the authority of the conference.

DC 125:15b They must observe that this they are not required to do except there be a direct manifestation of the Spirit which may direct it.

DC 125:15c Pray over the sick, anoint them with oil, as commanded in the law, and leave them in my hands, that the Spirit may deal with them according to my wisdom.

DC 126:5a I saw the Bishopric as at present constituted, with the attendant bishops upon either side. I asked what was the meaning of this.

DC 126:9 The assembly seemed to be large and orderly, with the different officers of the church in their quorums assembled in much the same order as observed at our annual conferences, but did not seem to be so large as at other times I had seen them.

DC 126:10b To this question I was answered, that the Book of Doctrine and Covenants as accepted by the church was to guide the advice and action of the Bishopric, taken as a whole, each revelation contained therein having its appropriate bearing upon each of the others and their relation thereto;

DC 126:10d In case there should be a flagrant disregard of the rights of the people, the quorums of the church in joint council should be appealed to, and their action and determination should govern.

DC 126:10e I inquired what quorums of the church were meant, and I was answered, the three quorums the decisions of which are provided for in the law--the Presidency, the Twelve, and the Seventy.

DC 127:8b it is now declared that in case of the removal of my servant now presiding over the church by death or transgression, my servant Frederick M. Smith, if he remain faithful and steadfast, should be chosen, in accordance with the revelations which have been hitherto given to the church concerning the priesthood.

DC 128:7b This can not refer to the inhabitants of Zion who are the pure in heart, but must refer to the places which have been occupied or which it may be contemplated to occupy in the regions round about.

DC 128:7c The Saints can not occupy in any place on the land of Zion which is not under the domination of civil law, and as citizens of the state, holding their liberties under the law, there must be a proper recognition and observance of these laws.

DC 128:7e Under the provisions of the laws these organizations or associations must be instituted and carried to completion if they shall be of benefit to those who shall be engaged in them.

DC 128:8c living and acting honestly and honorably before God and in the sight of all men, using the things of this world in the manner designed of God, that the places where they occupy may shine as Zion, the redeemed of the Lord.

DC 129:8e Under it the church has sought the Lord and received from time to time that which was deemed sufficient for the time to govern the church and its ministers, both of the spiritual and the temporal divisions of the work.

DC 132:Intro SECTION 132 President Joseph Smith died at Independence, Missouri, December 10, 1914. His oldest living son, Frederick Madison Smith, had been designated as his successor and was accepted by the church in this capacity. He was set apart as President of the Church and the High Priesthood at the Stone Church in Independence on May 5, 1915. The Conference of 1915 had given consideration to the honorable release of Presiding Bishop E. L. Kelley, but referred any necessary action to the Presidency and Council of Twelve. President F. M. Smith reported the situation to a council of the Presidency, Council of Twelve, and Presiding Bishopric. By action of this council the text of the revelation was taken from the body of President F. M. Smith's report and presented to the General Conference, where it was endorsed and approved for inclusion in the Doctrine and Covenants. The matter of selecting one to succeed Bishop E.L. Kelley in the office of Presiding Bishop has received by me careful and prayerful consideration.

DC 134:6a And let the Quorum of Twelve be further admonished that upon them rests the onerous burden of the missionary work of the church,

DC 140:4b This call was made known before, but my servant withheld it from the body for reasons that he believed were sufficient.

DC 143:2 My servant Donald V. Lents is called and he is now chosen to the holy office of an apostle and should be ordained to that office as soon as practicable. Pending that time he should be placed in charge of the English and European Missions.

DC 144:2 I feel at liberty to make this appointment at this time because he has become better acquainted with the members since he was called in 1947 and has proved himself to the body.
