The Problem with Justice

The Law of Justice is Eternal an Eternal Law that God can not change.

Justice Means that the consequence of Humanities sin would be Eternal Separation from God.

We had no means to remove our own Sin.

Our sin would separate us from God Forever.

Alma 19:96 And thus we see that all mankind were fallen; And they were in the grasp of justice

yea, the justice of God which consigned them forever to be cut off from His presence.

Alma 19:107 What do ye suppose, that mercy can rob justice?

I say unto you, nay, not one whit;

If so, God would cease to be God!

Mercy Only Overcomes Justice

Justice, (everlasting separation from God) was humanity's destiny because of Sin.

We had no means to Return To God.

Our Problem: We Could Not Remove our Own Sin.

Sin could only be removed, or rather Justice could be satisfied ONLY by an Infinite Sacrifice.

Alma 19:96 And thus we see that all mankind were fallen and they were in the grasp of justice,

Yea, the justice of God which consigned them forever to be cut off from His presence.

The Infinite Atonement

The Only Way Mercy Could Overcome Justice was to Pay a Price Equal to the Infinite Cost of Sin.

Mercy doesn't just happen. Eternal Laws require for Mercy to happen a Payment of Infinite Value must be made.

That Payment would require Blood to be Shed (death).

There Was Only One Being Whose Life was of Infinite Valuve: The Eternal Father, the Creator of All Things.

The Eternal Father Took on Flesh and Became The Infinite Sacrifice

Alma 16:210 "For it is expedient that there should be a great and last sacrifice, Yea, not a sacrifice of man, neither of beast, neither of any manner of fowl, For it shall not be a human sacrifice, But it must be an infinite and an eternal sacrifice.

Alma 16:213 But the law requireth the life of him who hath murdered; Therefore, there is nothing which is short of an infinite atonement which will suffice for the sins of the world, Therefore, it is expedient that there should be a great and last sacrifice.

Alma 16:215 "And behold, this is the whole meaning of the law, every whit a pointing to that great and last sacrifice, And that great and last sacrifice will be the Son of God, yea, infinite and eternal. "And thus He shall bring salvation to all those who shall believe on His name,

2 Nephi 6:15 Wherefore, it must needs be an infinite atonement -

2 Nephi 6:16 save it should be an infinite atonement, this corruption could not put on incorruption;

2 Nephi 11:26 And after that they have been scattered and the Lord God hath scourged them by other nations for the space of many generations - Yea, even down from generation to generation until they shall be persuaded to believe in Christ, the Son of God, and the atonement, which is infinite for all mankind -

God Came Down Allowing Mercy To Overcome Justice

The Book of Mormon Teaches that God Came Down and Took on Flesh as Jesus.

This is what scripture means saying 'God Condescended to Earth.'

He was the Infinite One, the Only One who could Make the Infinite Payment.

The Eternal God Died as a Mortal in the hands of Sinful Men, so Sinful Mortal Men could Return to God in Eternity without Sin.

Mormon 1:88 And also that the Jews, the covenant people of the Lord, shall have other witness besides that which they saw and heard, that Jesus whom they slew was the very Christ and the very God;

1 Nephi 3:56-58 And he saith unto me: "Knowest thou the Condescension of God? 57 And I said unto him: "I know that He loveth His children, Nevertheless, I do not know the meaning of all things. And he said unto me: "Behold, the virgin which thou seest is the mother of Godafter the manner of the flesh."

1 Nephi 3:70 And the angel said unto me again: "Look and behold the Condescension of God….86 And it came to pass that the angel spake unto me again, saying: Look.

1 Nephi 5:240 Yea, the God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, yieldeth himself according to words of the angel, as a man, into the hands of wicked men, to be lifted up according to the words of Zenock,

1 Nephi 5:252-253 And because they turn their hearts aside, saith the prophet, and have despised the Holy One of Israel, they shall wander in the flesh, and perish, and become a hiss and a byword, and be hated among all nations;  Nevertheless, when that day cometh, saith the prophet, that they no more turn aside their hearts against

Why Jesus Is Called The Son

The Book of Mormon Explains Why Jesus is Called 'The Son.' It means 'To Be In the Flesh' or 'To Be Mortal.'

God Being Holy showed us the way, becoming Human like Us. Although He Was God, He demonstrated with His Own Life (as Jesus) that We must Humble Ourselves Before God and be Obedient To Him.

Mosiah 8:28-31

And now Abinadi saith unto them: "I would that ye should understand that God Himself shall come down among the children of men and shall redeem His people;

And because He dwelleth in flesh, He shall be called the Son of God;

And having subjected the flesh to the will of the Father, being the Father and the Son.

The Father, because He was conceived by the power of God,

and the Son, because of the flesh,

thus becoming the Father and Son,

And They are one God.

Yea, the Very Eternal Father of heaven and of earth

2 Nephi 13:9 But notwithstanding He being holy, He showeth unto the children of men that according to the flesh He humbleth Himself before the Father, And witnesseth unto the Father that He would be obedient unto Him in keeping His commandments;

The Change of Heart

To Be Born Again means that your Heart Changes.

A Change of Heart means your life's focus, goals, desires--your purpose for living--changes.

This change must happen to all.

It is ONLY to those whose hearts change that MERCY is Applied.

Mosiah 11:187 "And the Lord said unto me: ' Marvel not that all mankind - yea, men and women, all nations, kindreds, tongues and people - must be born again,

Alma 3:83-866 And I say unto you that I know that Jesus Christ shall come, Yea, the Son of - the Only Begotten of - the Father, full of grace and mercy and truth.

And behold, it is He that cometh to take away the sins of the world; Yea, the sins of every man which steadfastly believeth on His name.

And now I say unto you, that this is the order after which I am called, Yea, to preach unto my beloved brethren, Yea, and everyone that dwelleth in the land;Yea, to preach unto all - both old and young, both bond and free; Yea, I say unto you - the aged and also the middle aged, and the rising generation - Yea, to cry unto them that they must repent and be born again.

Alma 5:24 Now I say unto you, that ye must repent and be born again, For the Spirit saith: "If ye are not born again, ye cannot inherit the kingdom of heaven."

How We Make a Covenant

A Covenant is more than a promise.

A Covenant is a life-long commitment.

Coming to Jesus means Making A Covenant with Him.

We Must Make a Covenant to Follow Him. In response, He offers His Mercy to Remove our Sin which is Eternal Life.

A Covenant begins with Faith--Faith that Salvation comes Only through the Shed Blood (sacrifice)of Jesus.

Faith in Christ leads to wanting change, wanting a new outlook in life, turning from Sin. This is Repentance, Desiring the Change of Heart.

A change of Heart leads to desiring a Covenant with Him.

Our Covenant is made by Baptism in Water, symbolizing new life, rebirth.

He Gives the Holy Ghost--His Spirit in Us to change us, to make us clean.

All Who Come to Him Must Receive the Holy Ghost or We Can Not Change.

He gives the Holy Ghost to change us. The Holy Ghost is a portion of His Spirit to guide us in all things.

We must Endure in Faith in Jesus--keeping His commandments-- for our entire lives.

He Assures us of Salvation if we follow in the Strait Path and Endure throughout our days.

He Assures His People will receive Forgiveness When we Repent.

2 Nephi 13:15 And also the voice of the Son came unto me, saying He that is baptized in My name, To him will the Father give the Holy Ghost, like unto Me; Wherefore, follow Me and do the things which ye have seen Me do.

3 Nephi 4:50 And whoso cometh unto Me with a broken heart and a contrite spirit, him will I baptize with fire and with the Holy Ghost, Even as the Lamanites, because of their faith in Me at the time of their conversion, were baptized with fire and with the Holy Ghost, And they knew it not.

Moroni 6:2 ... And they were not baptized, save they brought forth fruit meet that they were worthy of it; Neither did they receive any unto baptism, save they came forth with a broken heart and a contrite spirit and witnessed unto the church that they truly repented of all their sins;

1 Nephi 7:69 "Wherefore, if ye shall be obedient to the commandments and endure to the end, ye shall be saved at the last day.

2 Nephi 6:42 But behold, the righteous, the saints of the Holy One of Israel - They which have believed in the Holy One of Israel, They which have endured the crosses of the world and despised the shame of it - They shall inherit the kingdom of God which was prepared for them from the foundation of the world, And their joy shall be full forever.

2 Nephi 6:49 And if they will not repent and believe in His name and be baptized in His name and endure to the end, they must be damned,

Mosiah 11:139 Yea, and as often as My people repent will I forgive them their trespasses against Me;

Our Response

Our Response to God is to Bow Down and Worship Him, To Love Him with our Heart, Might, Mind and Strength.

We Demonstrate our Love to God by Serving Others, Sacrificing our lives in service to Others.

We Rejoice In Knowing He Grants Salvation to All Who Will Come to Him.

We Live our Lives Humbly; Not seeking the Vain Things of the World but the Pure things of God.

He Offers Forgiveness When we Repent.

2 Nephi 11:56 Wherefore, ye must bow down before Him and worship Him with all your might, mind and strength and your whole soul; And if ye do this, ye shall in no wise be cast out;

Mosiah 1:49 And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom, That ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings, ye are only in the service of your God.

Alma 7:23 And many of them will be saved, for the Lord will be merciful unto all who call on His name.

Mosiah 11:139 Yea, and as often as My people repent will I forgive them their trespasses against Me;

Grace Means God Earnestly Desired To Come To Earth For Us

The Book of Mormon Teaches The True meaning of Grace and Works.

Grace Means Salvation was only Possible because God Chose to Take on Flesh becoming the Eternal Sacrifice.

Grace is Received when our Hearts Turn to God (Born again, Repentance), THEN Grace is Applied.

If our Hearts Turn, THEN Mercy can Overcome Justict and our Sins be Removed.

Our Works Reflect our Change of Heart, becoming Evidence our Heart Changed.

Our Works did not Remove our Sin or make Salvation Possible-Salvation was and Is Only Possible due to God's Unmerited Sacrifice.

2 Nephi 1:71 Wherefore, redemption cometh in and through the Holy Messiah, For He is full of grace and truth;

2 Nephi 1:73 "Wherefore, how great the importance to make these things known unto the inhabitants of the earth, That they may know that there is no flesh that can dwell in the presence of God, save it be through the merits and mercy and grace of the Holy Messiah,

2 Nephi 7:42 And remember, that after ye are reconciled unto God, That it is only in and through the grace of God that ye are saved;

2 Nephi 8:11 Yea, my soul delighteth in His grace and His justice and power and mercy, In the great and eternal plan of deliverance from death.

2 Nephi 11:44 For we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all that we can do. (Must be read in context—‘everything they can do was a reference to the efforts Nephites were making to bring the message of Christ to the fallen, it is NOT implying that grace is a small part of salvation after our works.’

Moroni 6:5 And their names were taken that they might be remembered and nourished by the good word of God to keep them in the right way - To keep them continually watchful unto prayer, relying alone upon the merits of Christ who was the author and the finisher of their faith.

Alma 19:106 And thus they are restored into His presence, to be judged according to their works, according to the law and justice; For behold, justice exerciseth all his demands, And also mercy claimeth all which is her own; And thus, none but the truly penitent are saved.

Judged By Our Works

As God was Judged by the world, Even so will all the World be Judged by God.

Every Human will face Judgement. We will be judged by our works, whether they reflected a changed heart or not.

If Our Hearts were Changed, Desiring Jesus and his Ways, Mercy is Applied and Sin Removed. Our Works will reflect this change. It is our Evidence at the Day of Judgement.

If Our Hearts were Not Changed, and we rejected Jesus and his Ways, Justice is Applied and Sin Remains.

All Humanity Will Stand on Gods Right Hand or Left Hand--with no one in the middle--base on whether our Hearts Changed.

The Change of Heart means the focus of our life changed to believe in God, to follow the ways of Jesus, serving and sacrificing for Others.

Alma 19:104 But there is a law given, and a punishment affixed, and repentance granted, which repentance mercy claimeth;

Otherwise, justice claimeth the creature and executeth the law, And the law inflicteth the punishment;

If not so, the works of justice would be destroyed and God would cease to be God.

3 Nephi 12:27 That as I have been lifted up by men,

even so should men be lifted up by the Father

to stand before Me to be judged of their works,

whether they be good or whether they be evil;

Alma 8:98 "For behold, the day cometh that all shall rise from the dead and stand before God and be judged according to their works.

Alma 19:66 And it is requisite with the justice of God that men should be judged according to their works;

And if their works were good in this life and the desires of their hearts were good,

that they should also at the last day be restored unto that which is good;

3 Nephi 11:32 And even unto the great and last day when all people and all kindreds and all nations and tongues shall stand before God to be judged of their works, whether they be good or whether they be evil -

The Final State of Man

The Final State of Man is to be fully with with God for Eternity or be Separate from Him Forever.

There is no other State of Salvation in between.

Our Sin is either Fully Removed and we become Spiritually Clean, or Our Sin Remains and we remain Spiritually Filthy, Unable to Dwell with God.

This is the Message of Salvation.

There a is no salvation outside the presence of God.

Salvation Means you are Returned to God's Presence, Free from Sin, Eternally His Kingdom.

1 Nephi 4:61 Wherefore, the final state of the souls of men is to dwell in the kingdom of God, or to be cast out because of that justice of which I have spoken;

Alma 16:234 Therefore, the Spirit of the Lord hath withdrawn from you and hath no place in you, And the devil hath all power over you; And this is the final state of the wicked.

2 Nephi 6:72 And in fine, wo unto all they that die in their sins! for they shall return to God and behold His face and remain in their sins.

Alma 8:97 "Therefore, the wicked remain as though there had been no redemption made, except it be the loosing of the bands of death.
